Mohammad Moeini (b. 1995, Tehran, Iran) is a self-taught artist specializing in sculpture and ceramics. His work features a collection of visual forms that are neither human, animal, nor plant, yet incorporate characteristics of all three. Over the past two years, Moeini has focused on creating visually compelling works while exploring the unique elements, features, and creatures that inspire his art. His sculptures reject the boundaries of realistic representation, delving into abstraction that enhances their visual appeal and transforms them into singular, thought-provoking pieces. Situated at the intersection of figurative and abstract art, Moeini’s creations expand the limits of figuration. They convey a primal yet futuristic sense, addressing themes of ritual, mythology, symbolism, daily norms, and technology. Inspired by myths and science fiction films, his artworks reimagine the structures and capabilities of human, animal, and plant forms, crafting unique hybrids that challenge contradictions between beauty and ugliness, hope and despair, and more. While drawing from the traditions of Iranian and Eastern art, Moeini’s sculptures are deeply influenced by contemporary art and technology, creating a dialogue between East and West to produce universally resonant works.
